Do you like drama? Do you like mysteries? Do you like murder? No? Is that because of all the blood and guts and death? Well, what about fictional, funny murders then?

The Sexy Detective Show will be returning for an all new season in the coming months… but first, take the chance to see four of the troupe’s performers in Impromafia’s new off-the-cuff season, Agatha Holmes!

Agatha Holmes is, funnily enough, a case of Agatha Christie meets Sherlock Holmes in an improvised comedy concoction of murderous proportions. When five suspects gather together in an old English manor house, there’s bound to be murders galore  – and there is, at a rate of one per night on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between July 1 and 10. The audience nominates the killer, the weapon and the tell-tale clue, leaving Impromafia’s improvisers to make up the rest.

Check out Mike, Amy and Dave in all six shows – as a bloodthirsty secretary, a scandalous screen star and a Doctor Watson type, respectively – or pop along on the closing night to get a bonus slab of special guest star and Sexy D fave, Luke “Big Sexy” Allan!

Been missing the live Sexy Detective sketchables? Dry your eyes.

Sexy D’s Dave (erm, that is, me) will be performing a sketch-shaped monologue in the ever-popular Raw Comedy comp next week. How a character sketch is going to go down in a stand-up comedy dominated competition remains to be seen, but I’ll give it something approaching a go.

Anyway, gosh, you should probably come along and support him. Er, me. The sketch in question is an old live favourite that has not been seen since 2007. I can only recommend heading down to the Paddo to see some great Brisbane comedy and, let’s face it, probably some terrible Brisbane comedy as well. Let’s just hope that I don’t fall into the latter category, eh?

It’s a new year, and Sexy D are beavering away on new sketches, new writings and a new show. In the next couple of weeks, you can expect a fresh video and the commencement of sketchy bloggin’. While you wait, we recommend going along to see four of the Sexy D group live on stage in season three of  Prognosis: Death!

Official and proper news from Sexy D HQ forthcoming…

With filming of new sketches about to commence, time seems right to announce the theme and title of the Sexy Detective’s next show.

Coming in 2010 to a stage near you (well, if “near you” means “somewhere in Brisbane, Australia”) is Sexy D’s seventh full length sketch comedy revue,  entitled The Sexy Detective presents ‘Stray Cats and Show Rats’. With brand new performers joining old – and returning – faves, ‘Stray Cats and Show Rats’ is the Sexy Detective’s look at the animal kingdom and it will boast all the raunchy sex kittens, sheer horsepower and unpleasant monkey bites you’d expect.

There’s also vampires, off colour stand up, nerds having sex  and timely references to Sliders.

We answer the call of the wild in this 2006 sketch, Animals. Remember that great picture book Animalia? Well this is nothing like that.

Those internet oglers with keener eyes may have noticed that of late we’ve been uploading older sketches “from the vault”. This is because they have aged gracefully, like fine wines (we’ve decided not to serve up those that have degenerated into vinegar). Still, surely its time we got out the camera and recorded new material? Well stop bugging us -- I’m happy to say we’re shooting new sketches in just a couple of weeks. And, as a teaser, the name and theme of our upcoming live production ties in rather aptly with the above sketch…

We have been hibernating, but we are roused by an EFO.

As you can see, an EFO is enough to rouse anyone.

Now that we have experienced our awakening -- now that we have cast off the doldrums of a cold winter -- do not expect us to lie down and go back to sleep. The Sexy Detective is once again on the case. It’s a sexy case; and it is one that involves fresh, new, sexy material.

If you missed the Sexy Detective lads’ appearance in Prognosis: Death! earlier this year, you’ll be pleased as a fist in the face to hear that it’s back! Prognosis: Death -- Relapse is an improvised horror/soapie/supernatural/sci-fi comedy. In a hospital. It’s worked before.
